George Edozie
George Edozie was born on the 11th of May 1972 in Enugu state Nigeria. He studied Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Benin where he majored in Painting. BA (Hons Fine and Applied Arts) graduated in 1996. George has had 5 solo Exhibition and over 109 group Exhibitions within and outside Nigeria. His last solo exhibition titled ‘Shifting the Paradigm’ hosted by the Museum Of Contemporary Art North Miami Florida, was listed among the 4 best exhibition at the Art Basel Miami 2014.His sculpture Okpulu (Grandma’s Basket) is a permanent collection at the Museum of contemporary Art North Miami. He is also the co-author of the book 101 Contemporary Artist, A Celebration of Modern Nigerian Art. The first recent document on Nigerian Contemporary Art published in 2010. George Edozie’s works are widely collected within and outside the country. George was one of the Co-founder of the Art group Artzero and also an Art consultant / Curator at the Alexis Gallery in Lagos and has taken part in Art Workshops within and outside Nigeria. He was part of the exhibitions Africa Now organized by the World Bank for emerging African Artist at the World Bank main complex Washington DC USA in 2008 and African Way of Art, La Galerie Vendome Paris France in 2011. George has successfully curated 34 exhibitions in the US, France, UK, Ghana and Nigeria.
George is a member of Gild of professional Artist GFA and Society of Nigerian Artist SNA. He is happily married with children.
